Gem vs Ashby

This is an architecture decision disguised as a tool comparison. Gem is a system of engagement that sits on top of whatever ATS you run — sequences, nurture, pipeline analytics. Ashby is an all-in-one: ATS, scheduling, analytics, and a sourcing module in a single modern product that's been winning startup and scaleup accounts from Greenhouse and Lever.

Verdict

If your ATS is staying, Gem is the strongest engagement layer you can add to it. If you're already unhappy with your ATS, Ashby's consolidation — one product, one analytics layer, sourcing included — is the more forward-looking buy and often cheaper in total. Don't buy Gem to compensate for an ATS you're about to leave.

Also worth considering: Kula is a newer all-in-one with AI-forward outreach, worth a look at smaller team sizes. Read our Kula review →
